Meeting Synopsis:
This meeting is primarily targeted towards Medicinal
Chemists whom have begun, or wish to begin, to fully utilizing
combinatorial chemistry and other newly emerging drug discovery methods
as additional tools in their drug discovery programs.
Consequently, this symposium emphasizes methods practicing Medicinal
Chemists can use for efficiently synthesizing focused libraries of
compounds without requiring advanced robotics and also methods which
provide essential information for iteratively designing and evaluating
these libraries.
Session I:
Integrating Combinatorial Chemistry Into the Medicinal
Chemist's Laboratory: Case Studies in Lead Optimization and Targeted
Library Synthesis, Chairman, Dr. Steve Kaldor (Eli Lilly).
Session II:
The Design of Small, Focused Combinatorial Libraries,
Chairman, Dr. Mark Murcko (Vertex Pharmaceuticals).
Session III:
Screening of Small Combinatorial Libraries for
Pharmaceutical Properties Chairman, Prof. Marilyn Morris (Dept. of
Pharmaceutics, SUNY at Buffalo).
Session IV:
Emerging Methods in Drug Discovery, Chairman, Prof. Alexey
Eliseev (Dept. of Medicinal Chemistry, SUNY at Buffalo).
Session V:
Analytical Methods for Characterization and Purification of
Combinatorial Libraries, Chairman, Dr. Daniel Kassel (CombiChem).
Session VI:
Solid Supports and Linkers for the Synthesis of
Combinatorial Libraries, Chairman, Dr. Irving Sucholeiki (Solid Phase
Sciences Corp.)
